We are currently receiving an increasing number of home visit requests that do not meet the service criteria which is unfortunately impacting on our other services.
We are only able to provide home visits to patients who fit into the following groups:
- Terminally ill patients
- Truly bedbound patients
- So poorly that they would come to harm if moved
- Care homes (though we can accommodate those patients who can come to the surgery)
What happens when you request a visit:
- Visits wherever possible should requested by 11:30am
- A doctor or nurse practitioner will call back to assess the problem
- We triage all requests and some problems can be dealt with by telephone advice, by other teams, or you may be advised to go directly to hospital
- You will be asked to attend the surgery if you do not fit the criteria for home visits….. HOWEVER, NO patient in definite NEED of a home visit will be refused
